A spindle and whorl consisting of a dark brown wooden top, long palm bark spindle, and white spun cotton wrapped around the spindle.
It is said that once a man has finished making the stave he is not supposed to handle the spindle again. If he does, a woman cannot use it or the cotton already on it.
