Description
"These trumpets are made and used by men on ritual occasions. A long segment of bamboo, tawa, forms the shaft. An armadillo tail, yaix hina, is hollowed, scraped, and attached to form the flaring, curved bell. The shaft may be decorated with wrappings of string and razor grass, achiote designs, strips of monkey fur, and ornaments of peccary teeth or deer hooves. The bell may be daubed with beeswax into which feathers are embedded. It is possible to proudce several different tones on one instrument by varying the embouchure and air stream."
