Desegregation of Girard College

Desegregation of Girard College (1954-1968) traces the history of the long battle to integrate Girard College, the North Philadelphia boarding school for “poor, white male orphans."  Notable highlights from this collection include over 200 photographs of the NAACP-led picket at the school and KYW film footage of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., addressing demonstrators in August 1965.
