Baltimore Oct 20th 73/ My Dearest Carrie/ I am pleased/ to say that I arrived/ safely in B. and/ found every thing/ alright. It has/ been raining here since Sunday/ morning - My Bishop/’s family is well/ and seemed very/ glad to see me/ and also to hear/ that I left you/ all well. Please/ say to father not/ to send the books/ until her hears/ from me as it/ look as though it’s going to/ rain for several/ days and I am/ afraid they might/ get wet. friend/ G[xx}ner came/ down with me/ this morning and/ I bought him up/ to take dinner with/ me – said he saw/ father but had not/time to speak to him/ as father was in/ his buggy.
