Textiles

Underskirts may be work with another skirt on top or simply by themselves. These tubular fabrics are often creaed on a continuous warp loom, though some may be made on a backstrap loom and then stitched together.Most skirts feature patterned or colored stripes with a plain white or undyed cotton background.

Hammocks are made from backstrap looms and may be one large fabric or two pieces stiched together. The Cashinahua weavers make hammocks for sleeping and for resting, each type decorated differently and varying in size.
Peruvian Cashinahua Textiles
The Peruvian Cashinahua utlize woven goods everyday. Skirts, underskirts, belts, backstraps, and hammocks are all important products created with a loom.
Eastern Toba Textiles
When cotton was introduced to the Gran Chaco region, the industry greatly impacted the way of life for the Toba while also providing a medium to create textiles with. The designs and colors used are traditionally Toba in their appearance.
