Buy War Savings Stamps
In June of 1918, the Federal Reserve issued the 25 cent War Saving Stamp. The concept behind the thrift stamp was to move surplus money that might be otherwise spent on luxuries into the war fund and to convince civilians, especially children, that no amount of money was too small in supporting the war effort.
